1)Why shall we cooperate with Joyedu International Cultural Exchange Center?

  • Tax Exemptions, since all J-1 participants are temporary visitors with nonresident, nonimmigrant status and not eligible to receive the benefits of U.S. social programs such as Social Security, Medicare and FICA and are therefore exempt from paying these taxes.
  • Free recruitment.We advertise your seasonal job openings to students, recruit and screen candidates for your open positions to preselect the best matches based on your criteria. We conduct a thorough, pre-departure orientation.All participants are authorized to work legally in the U.S. for the period. We will also provide ongoing support and monitoring, form the initial recruiting stage and throughout the duration of the program. Therefore, your company as a host company will allow you to save valuable time and money by recruiting and interviewing through us at no cost to you.
  • Diversify workpalce by bringing a multicultural setting to your organization. Being a host company, you will be able to create a more dynamic work environment can be a step towards to breeding of new ideas and a very proactive business practice. Having participants with an international mindest, from different cultures and with different backgrounds can create this dynamically.
  • No service fee, we do not charge your organization to become a host to a particpant or for our service. Furthmore, although we are not sponsor a participant's visa, an organization designated by the U.S. Department of State will be the participant's visa sponsor, we are able to make sure the participants to be authorized to work legally in the U.S.before they arrive in the U.S.

2)What candidates are qualified for this program?

  • Summer work and travel candidates
  • Currently enrolled in full-time university or four-year college education program.
  • Not a US citizen, and living outside the United States
  • Between the ages of 18-29
  • Have at least conversational level of English
  • Willingness to commit to program and adhere to program rules

Intern:

It is currently enrolled in and pursuing studies at a degree- or certificate-granting post-secondary academic institution outside the United States or graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to his/her exchange visitor program begin date, and who enters the United States to participate in a structured and guided work-based Internship Program in his/her specific academic field. Maximum length of stay is 12 months

Trainee:

A degree or professional certificate from a foreign post-secondary academic institution from outside the United States and at least one year of prior related work experience in his or her occupational field outside the United States, OR
Five years of work experience outside the United States in the occupational field in which they are seeking training.

3)Employers obligation?

Work & Travel program:

  • Equipment :Participants must have access to the necessary equipment, according to the proposed position.
  • Training :Participants should receive the appropriate training needed to perform in the proposed position.
  • Support :Participants must have access to professional supervision, guidance and support throughout the program.
  • Orientation :Participants must receive full orientation regarding the company's business, duties and responsibilities involved in the proposed position.
  • Working hours and hourly wages :Participants must work and be compensated for a minimum of 32 hours of work per week. The working hours and the hourly wages are indicated on the SWT Offer Letter.
  • Cross-cultural activities :JOYEDU will encourage and recommend host organizations to provide any activities or events that the participants can benefit from as cross-cultural activities. The activities can be seminars or courses within the company, conventions, meeting participations, or company staff gatherings.
  • JOYEDU will not obligate the host organizations to provide such activities, but JOYEDU will make sure that the host organizations understand and agree to the importance of cross-cultural activities within Summer Work Travel Program.

Intern & Trainee program

  • In order to host a J-1 Intern or Trainee, your organization must be able to provide a practical structured experience to the participant(s) and the following:
  • Workplace and equipment :Participants must have access to a workplace and to the necessary equipment, according to the proposed position.
  • Support:Participants must have access to professional supervision, guidance and support throughout the program.
  • Orientation:Participants must receive full orientation regarding the company's business, duties and responsibilities involved in the proposed position.

4)How to cooperate with JOYEDU?

If your organization is interested in hosting a Program Participant, please contact us to go over the program in detail and review possible hosting opportunities.

Step 1 : Host Organization Information

In order to get started with the participant selection, we will require the following three things from you.

  • Register on the website and fill in your company information in detail: Company name; company address, contact person information and others.
  • Fill in the position information in detail. The information will help us better understand your needs while performing the search for a matching candidate. The information needed includes: Position name; knowledge and skills required; duties and responsibilities involved in the position.
  • Upload Business linces, EIN and Workman's Compensation Insurance Policy copy -Another requirement by the U.S. Department of State is a copy of the page of your WCP which includes the company's name, the policy number and the expiration date.

Step 2 : Candidate Pre-selection

With the information collected, your JOYEDU placement manager will

  • provide you with Matching candidates' resumes, with a link to an online self-presentation video prepared by each of the matching candidates.
  • You can also invide students who you may interested in the system to apply for your position.
  • These two tools will help you pre-select the candidate(s) you are interested in interviewing.

Step 3 : Participant Selection

Interviewing Stage

  • JOYEDU will arrange an interview for the pre-selected candidate(s) with a member of your staff, according to the interviewer's availability and subject to the time difference between countries.
  • This interview can be conducted via telephone or via web-cam.
  • In some cases and usually for technical related positions, the organization that is looking to select a participant may also request additional information in order to evaluate the candidate's technical skills first hand (work samples, project assignments and others).

Step 4 : What's next?

Extending an Offer (TIOL)

  • After the interviewing process is completed and you have decided to offer a position to a candidate, you would then inform JOYEDU about your participant selection. JOYEDU will issue a Training/Internship Offer Letter (TIOL) which is signed by the company and will be used to extend your offer to the participant and formalize it.
  • The TIOL contains information such as: Name of the offered position; selected participant's name; program start date; hourly stipend offered.
  • Once the TIOL is signed by both, the company and the participant, JOYEDU will be ready to begin working on the process of obtaining all documents necessary for the selected participant to apply for the J-1 visa
